Coursera, ISB launch Business Technology Management course

Assessing the emerging demand for business technology management professionals, leading online education portal, Coursera, in association with Indian School of Business, has launched a specialized course in Business Technology Management (BTM).
 
As IT gets more and more aligned and technology such as cloud make it possible to push day to day technology operations to specialist services firms, organizations are looking to have a new breed of IT managers who look at technology through the business lens and help the organizations create competitive advantage and maximize business value creation leveraging technology. A shift to digital economy and data-centric business environment is further accelerating the need for such managers.
 
This course is targeted at equipping professionals in IT functions and the IT industry in these skills.
 
“Certified individuals will learn about IT-enabled competition and how they can leverage IT for efficiency, innovation and business transformation. In turn, they will be poised for technology consulting, IT program and project management, IT leadership and client facing positions in IT functions and the IT industry,” says a statement from Coursera.
 
There are five courses in the Specialization – Digital Transformations, Business Analytics and Digital Media, Accounting and Finance for IT Managers, IT Project Management, and Leadership and Emotional Intelligence. The five courses will be followed by a project.
 
The first course, Digital Transformation, starts in October 2016 and each course starts subsequently after a month. The entire program is expected to take six months for completion. Coursera will award a certificate by ISB that successful participants can display in their LinkedIn profile
