"Data security, data crunching and virtualization of laptops and desktops for effectiveness in business operations will be key," says Amit Shukla, Senior IT Leader
Amit Shukla, Senior IT Leader, talks to CIO&Leader, keeping the Vision 2020 in perspective.
Excerpts from the interview:
Scenarios that are likely to impact your industry by the year 2020?
Topmost thing for all of us apart from cloud solutions, mobility, IoT is GST. Although it is good for economy but not so for CIOs because they need to do lot of changes in the system like purchases, sales, registrations, legal requirements and invoice reconciliation. It is a big change in the complete business transformation. In future it is good but right now I don’t think all industries are ready for GST.
What will your agenda comprise of in 2020?
People are talking about IoT but my question is how machines will talk with my systems, how I will better engage with my machines and enhance the capacity or usage of my machines. If I utilize my machines in a better way so that breakdown will be lower and if I can do complete analysis with IoT systems, it will definitely be the foremost important thing for me.
Challenges you foresee in 2020?
Data security in any form, LAN/WAN and real storage will be one of the challenges. The second is virtualization of the data. So data virtualization, whether in the form of desktops, laptops or servers will be a key challenge in the time to come. I interacted with several people but no one has complete 100% solution for data security. For example, if someone takes print out of any confidential document, I don’t have any control over this. So data security, data crunching and virtualization of laptops and desktops for effectiveness in business operations will be key.
