Suresh Kumar, Partner & CIO, Grant Thornton, talks to CIO&Leader, keeping the Vision 2020 in perspective.
Excerpts from the interview:
Scenarios faced by your industry by the year 2020?
Our business is dependent on the global economy (especially in the US and China). The Indian economy is on the right track under the current government. So the global economy, Indian economy and changes in regulations are going to affect our industry.
What comprises your agenda as a CIO?
By 2020, we will be moving completely to the cloud or to the maximum extent possible. We are not using much mobile apps today. So I want to increase its usage and make everything possible through mobile devices. We plan to ensure that more people like team leaders in organizations get to use analytics instead of a selected few. I also want to incorporate artificial intelligence with analytics to provide better decision-making capability to the people.
Challenges due to rapid evolvement of technology by 2020?
The biggest challenge is information security. With technology being available everywhere and people using any device, whether mobile or home PC, the challenge is to see if information is secure or not.
What are your personal goals for the year 2020?
I want to be an entrepreneur and by 2020, I want to set up my own company and employ people rather than being employed.
