CIOs today are leading change and driving digital transformation in their respective organizations. Their love for experimenting with new technologies dates back to the back-office days. However, this love was realized only when they moved to the front lines, handling cost reductions, strategic responsibilities, and more recently, investing in digital technologies to enable business outcomes.
On Valentine's Day, we asked Indian CIOs, rather candidly, on what they love the most about their job?
Jayantha Prabhu, Chief Information Officer at Essar, who has spend over two decades in the industry, said,“Work is Worship – This has been the mantra that I’ve followed in my entire professional career. This approach has practically made me fall in love with each and every phase of my work life."
He added that his role as Group CIO for Essar, allows him to implement technology for business growth and the role as India Business Head for AGC Networks, gives him the opportunity to drive business using technology solutions. In both the roles, Prabhu said, "I love the people networking part and it has a great value in my life.”
CIOs have made significant in the last few years when it comes to developing their leadership and business alignment capabilities. However, they don't want status quo to slip between the cracks. Almost all CIOs agree that the liberty to innovate is what they love the most about their job.
For Archie Jackson, Assistant Vice President - Business IT at Genpact, driving transformation is the most exciting part of his job.
Anjani Kumar, Global Chief Digital Officer & Senior VP at Collabera, loves his interaction with employees.
For Avinash Velhal, Group CIO- India , Middle East & APAC - Atos International, and Chandresh Dedhia, Head Of Information Technology - Ascent Health & Wellness Solutions, it is the freedom to innovate, and change that IT brings to the business landscape.
For Keyur Desai, The CIO role is also an opportunity to learn new technologies and help the business grow.
Keyur Desai, CIO – Essar Ports & Shipping, Head Info-Security, Network & Communications – Essar Group, feels that the leadership aspect of the role is most rewarding.
