Dhananjaya Tambe, DMD & CIO, State Bank of India highlights some of the main challenges in ensuring business continuity once the lockdown was announced. He mentions getting people to the IT center was very challenging as running the operations was paramount. However, he reveals his organization has already prepared for such an eventuality and hence, business operations were not that affected. Yet, there were certain requirements such as developments which were needed to be done in SBI’s systems and both internal and external staff co-operated in this matter by going to the bank and sorting it out in a co-operative manner (SBI did not have a remote way of doing it).

Tambe adds, “Work from home will be the new norm going forward.” He goes onto emphasize on the benefits of working from home, such as getting the right talent, people generating better output, getting less fatigued, saving up on travelling time and reduced time-to-market.
