CTO Forum, 9.9 Medias flagship brand for senior technology decision makers, recently concluded its 12th Annual Conference: CIO & Leader in Kovalam, Kerala, India. Conducted for the first time within the Indian sub continent, over a 4-day period, 12th - 15th August 2011, the conference was attended by over a 100 key technology decision makers from India.
The role of the CIO as a business leader is increasing in importance and assuming centre-stage in enterprises across India and the conference proved to be an effective platform for CIOs to share experiences, debate solutions and solve for challenges they face in the enterprise. Hosted at The Leela in Kovalam, Kerala, the conference featured thought provoking sessions by speakers such as Chris Potts renowned corporate strategist; Raghu Raman, Renowned security expert and CEO of NATGRID; Anuradha Das Mathur and Pramath Sinha, Founders, 9.9 Media; Santosh Babu, renowned corporate leadership development consultant; and imminent CIOs like Vijay Mehra, Cairn Energy, and the likes.
The 12th Annual Conference did well to balance a range of topics; starting with Chris Potts famous FruITion strategy and the four generations of CIO leadership, to Raghu Raman's talk on the personal journey from the public to private sector; some of the implications of large-scale projects, and influencing multiple stakeholders to Ranjit Tinaikar, Principal, McKinsey & Co. (renowned analyst and speaker who leads McKinseys IT strategy consulting practice out of India) who spoke about the evolving role of the CIO in a high growth economy.
With massive support from mega vendors such as Cannon, Microsoft, Avaya and Google to name a few, the conference, kept CIOs busy, with multiple sessions ranging from Security and Privacy to the bringing agility into the enterprise.
Panels comprising of top CIOs like Vijay Mehra, CIO, Cairn Energy to V S Parthasarathy, Group CIO, Mahindra and Mahindra, helped CIOs understand how they can face the challenges of todays enterprise like catering to exponential customer demand; making decisions on technology in a world where technology is improving at a phenomenal rate, and so on; the conference featured it all.
Commenting on the efficacy of the summit in bringing together CIOs from across the country on one common platform many attendees termed it as a memorable event for the CIO community.
Going by the success of the event, founders Anuradha Das Mathur and Dr. Pramath Raj Sinha and the leading lady behind the CTO Forum, plans to host more of such successful flagship events within India itself.
Given the success and appreciation of the event being held in India, CTOForum, might just consider holding the 13th Annual Conference close to home for a second time. However that remains to be seen.
