Balaji Narayanamurthy has taken on the role of Chief Data Officer at IndusInd Bank, bringing with him over two decades of experience in data strategy, advanced analytics, business intelligence, and customer insights across leading global financial institutions. In his new mandate, Balaji will spearhead IndusInd Bank’s enterprise data strategy—driving data governance, AI adoption, advanced analytics, and data-led decision-making across the bank.
Prior to joining IndusInd Bank, Balaji served as President at Axis Bank, where he led the Business Intelligence Unit and played a pivotal role in scaling analytics, digital insights, and customer value creation over a 15-year journey with the bank. His leadership was central in building Axis Bank’s analytics capabilities—covering risk, marketing, customer journeys, and operational excellence.
He also served on the Board of Directors at Freecharge, influencing digital strategy, fintech innovation, and data-led customer engagement.
Before Axis Bank, Balaji held senior analytics and leadership positions at globally reputed organizations including Barclaycard, Capital One, and Citibank India, where he drove marketing analytics, credit insights, risk modelling, and strategic business planning.
With deep expertise in data science, BI, marketing analytics, customer intelligence, and enterprise data transformation, Balaji brings a strong combination of strategic vision and analytical depth — positioning him as a key driver of IndusInd Bank’s next wave of digital and data-led growth.
