Balkrishna Shankwalker has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer at National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX), bringing with him over 25 years of rich experience in IT infrastructure, digital transformation, and technology leadership within highly regulated environments.
Balkrishna’s core expertise spans infrastructure modernization, IT operations, cloud adoption, microservices architecture, platform scalability, and technology governance. He has successfully led mission-critical transformation initiatives at National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) and Protean (formerly NSDL e-Gov), contributing to the development of foundational systems such as the New Depository System, PAN, TAN, IT e-filing, and private cloud deployments.
At NCDEX, Balkrishna will oversee the Technology division, including Infra Operations & Tech Procurement, Software Engineering, Business Solutions Group, and the Technology Command Center. His mandate includes enhancing the exchange’s digital infrastructure, strengthening platform resilience, and driving tech-led innovation aligned with regulatory priorities and market needs.
Throughout his career, Balkrishna has demonstrated excellence in managing high-availability systems, regulatory compliance, change management, and business continuity planning. His leadership has been instrumental in building future-ready technology frameworks that support transparency, efficiency, and scalability in India’s financial and governance ecosystems.
A graduate in Engineering from KLE Engineering College and an alumnus of ITM Business School, Balkrishna brings a unique blend of strategic vision and hands-on execution. His appointment marks a significant milestone in NCDEX’s journey toward technology-driven growth and market leadership.
