Deepak Sengupta has taken on the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Balasore Alloys Limited, part of the Ispat Group, where he will lead the organization’s end-to-end technology, digital, and automation agenda.
In his current role, Deepak is driving a large-scale technology transformation program, anchored by a ₹12.5 crore digital investment roadmap covering over 100 initiatives. His mandate spans AI/ML-led predictive maintenance, digital twin deployment for furnaces and mining operations, enterprise-wide data platforms, and deep process automation across manufacturing and supply chain functions.
A key focus of his leadership is building a “Digital Brain” architecture—integrating data lakes, APIs, analytics, and real-time dashboards—while also scaling high-performing IT and digital teams across SAP, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and AI-led digitalisation.
Prior to joining Balasore Alloys, Deepak served as Group CIO at Shyam Metalics and Energy Limited, where he led SAP S/4HANA and RISE transformations, IT cost optimization, and enterprise digital modernization. His earlier career includes senior technology leadership roles at Tata Steel Long Products Limited, Usha Martin Ltd., Vikram Solar, and other large manufacturing enterprises.
With over two decades of experience across manufacturing, metals, and heavy engineering, Deepak’s appointment reinforces Balasore Alloys’ focus on technology-led operational excellence, Industry 4.0 adoption, and scalable digital value creation.
