Kiran Mani has been appointed as Managing Director, APAC at OpenAI, marking a significant leadership move as the company strengthens its presence across the Asia-Pacific region.
With a strong track record in scaling digital platforms and driving global business growth, Kiran brings deep expertise in consumer ecosystems, content strategy, and revenue transformation. Prior to this, he served as CEO at Jiostar, where he led the creation of one of India’s largest media and entertainment platforms through the merger of Viacom18 and Star India, overseeing key platforms like JioHotstar and Cricinfo.
Earlier, during his extensive tenure at Google, he held multiple leadership roles including General Manager for Android & Google Play (APAC & Japan) and Managing Director for US Retail, where he managed multi-billion-dollar revenue portfolios and global partnerships.
His career also includes strategic leadership roles at Microsoft and IBM, along with contributions as an investor, advisor, and board member across multiple organizations.
In his new role at OpenAI, he is expected to drive regional strategy, partnerships, and adoption of AI technologies across enterprises and ecosystems in APAC, further accelerating innovation and responsible AI deployment.
