Woxsen University has launched the Aegis-AI Centre for AI-Enabled Global Infrastructure Security, a Centre of Excellence dedicated to protecting India’s critical sectors from rising cyber threats. The move comes amid a surge in cyberattacks, including more than 650 incidents targeting government, banking, and healthcare systems in May 2025, and 200,000 attacks on the power sector during June’s Operation Sindoor.

The Aegis-AI Centre focuses on developing AI-powered cybersecurity solutions to safeguard essential infrastructure in areas such as energy, finance, transportation, and healthcare. It brings together expertise from academia, industry, and government to advance research, create practical technologies, and train future professionals. Its approach integrates academic research with industry applications, offering professional training and certifications.

Technologies under development include machine learning, deep learning, blockchain-based audit trails, automation tools, and cyberattack simulation platforms. These systems enable real-time anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and incident response frameworks tailored for power grids, hospitals, banks, airports, and smart transport networks.

Key partners in this initiative are Risk Guard, DYIS PRIVATE LIMITED, and DevDolphins, who contribute to risk assessment, AI threat detection, and scalable software development. The Centre also emphasizes ethical hacking, hands-on training, and skill development workshops to build a skilled cybersecurity workforce.

In collaboration with government bodies, the Centre is conducting pilot deployments and contributing to national cybersecurity standards. Future plans include expanding global partnerships, commercializing solutions, and strengthening India’s leadership in AI-driven cybersecurity.

Located in Hyderabad, Woxsen University continues to reinforce its role as a hub for research, innovation, and education in emerging technologies.
