Godrej Enterprises Group a diversified engineering and design-led conglomerate, is strengthening AI capabilities across its workforce as part of its efforts to democratise agentic AI and enable employees to apply emerging technologies to real business challenges.
More than 200 digital champions across businesses and functions have completed advanced learning in Generative AI, enterprise AI tools, Agentic AI and business process transformation. Through practical, hands-on learning, employees explored applications across procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, customer experience, sales, marketing and B2B operations.
The initiative is designed to move employees from AI awareness to practical application, equipping them to identify relevant use cases, improve workflows, support better decision-making and encourage responsible adoption within their functions.
It builds on AI Ignite, GEG’s enterprise-wide AI learning initiative, through which close to 6,000 employees across engineering, manufacturing, operations, sales, marketing, legal, audit, communications and enabling functions have developed foundational AI and Generative AI capabilities. Employees have collectively completed more than 600,000 hours of structured learning, reflecting the Group’s focus on building a future-ready workforce.
Vijay Balakrishnan, Chief Digital & Information Officer, Godrej Enterprises Group, said, “AI creates meaningful value when it moves beyond the technology function and becomes a practical capability across the enterprise. At GEG, we are empowering employees with the skills and confidence to apply AI to real business challenges, improve workflows and support better decision-making. Our approach is to democratise AI without decentralising accountability. As adoption grows, strong governance, human oversight and responsible stewardship of enterprise knowledge will remain essential. By combining employee capability with business ownership, we aim to make AI a practical, responsible and scalable part of how work gets done across GEG.”
The advanced learning programme also strengthens GEG’s network of Digital Champions, who will help translate AI capabilities into practical business applications, identify opportunities within their functions and support wider adoption across the organisation. By equipping employees closest to a process or business challenge with AI capabilities, GEG is encouraging business-led innovation within a strong framework of governance, security and responsible use.
GEG’s approach brings together three critical elements: an AI-ready workforce, business-owned applications and a federated enterprise architecture. This enables individual businesses to develop solutions relevant to their operational requirements while drawing on shared technology capabilities and enterprise guardrails.
This capability-building is part of GEG’s broader digital transformation journey. The Group is advancing connected manufacturing and intelligent digital operations through initiatives such as Factory 360 and Amethyst. Amethyst serves as GEG’s federated intelligence engine, enabling business-led AI applications while maintaining common enterprise principles around governance, security and responsible adoption. GEG works with a broader technology ecosystem that includes Microsoft, AWS, Infor, Anthropic, and Salesforce, alongside its enterprise platforms and capabilities. The recently concluded advanced AI capability-building programme was delivered in collaboration with Microsoft& AWS.
