HDFC Bank has appointed Anup Bagchi as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term beginning October 27, succeeding Sashidhar Jagdishan.
Bagchi is a seasoned financial services executive and previously served as an executive at ICICI Bank before becoming the head of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance.
His appointment follows approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on October 1, after the central bank reviewed his candidature and gathered feedback from the insurance regulator and ICICI Bank CEO Sandeep Bakhshi.
Bagchi brings extensive experience across banking and financial services to the leadership role at HDFC Bank.
He will take charge at a significant leadership transition for the bank, succeeding Jagdishan and leading HDFC Bank into its next phase of growth and transformation.
