Prabhjeet Singh has been appointed as Managing Director for India at OpenAI. In this role, he will lead the company’s business strategy, partnerships, ecosystem development, and AI adoption initiatives across India, supporting OpenAI’s expanding presence in one of its fastest-growing markets.
Prior to joining OpenAI, he spent nearly 11 years with Uber, most recently serving as President, India & South Asia. During his tenure, he led the company’s full P&L for the region, helping scale India into one of Uber’s largest and fastest-growing global markets while driving innovation in mobility, sustainable transportation, and platform-led livelihood opportunities.
Earlier at Uber, he held several leadership roles including Director, Head of Cities & Growth, Director, Head of North/East/West & Bangladesh, GM Delhi & North India, and GM, Head of Strategy, where he played a pivotal role in market expansion, regional operations, strategic growth, and business transformation.
Before joining Uber, he spent over nine years with McKinsey & Company as Associate Partner, advising more than 30 CEOs and leading enterprises across financial services, telecommunications, consumer technology, digital banking, payments, and large-scale business transformation initiatives in India and Southeast Asia. He also worked closely with innovators to build disruptive digital business models in finance and payments.
He began his professional career as Senior Analyst at Lehman Brothers in London, where he worked with the Structured Finance (Asset Backed Securities Group) and Equities Program Trading teams, gaining early experience in global financial markets and investment banking.
With over two decades of leadership experience spanning technology, mobility, strategy consulting, financial services, and digital transformation, he brings deep expertise in scaling high-growth businesses, building strategic partnerships, driving innovation, and leading large, complex organizations.
