Sanjay Deshmukh has joined OpenAI as Vice President, APAC, based in Singapore.
Prior to joining OpenAI, Deshmukh served as Vice President, Asia Pacific & Japan at Elastic, where he was responsible for leading the company’s regional business.
Before Elastic, he served as Senior Regional Vice President, ASEAN and India at Snowflake, leading the company’s business across key markets in the region.
Deshmukh spent more than seven years with VMware, where he held several senior leadership positions, including Vice President & Managing Director, South East Asia and Korea. In this role, he was responsible for managing business operations and developing and executing strategies to accelerate VMware’s growth and leadership across the region. He previously served as Vice President and Managing Director for End-User Computing across Asia Pacific & Japan.
Earlier, Deshmukh was Area Vice President – India Subcontinent at Citrix Systems, following leadership roles at SAP India and Business Objects Software India, where he served as Vice President – Business User and Platform and Country Manager India/SAARC, respectively.
He began his career in sales and account management roles at Informix, Tata Unisys/Tata Infotech and Binary Semantics, building more than three decades of experience across enterprise technology, cloud, software and regional sales leadership.
