Sameer Ratolikar Elevated to Group Head & Chief Information Security Officer at HDFC Bank

Sameer Ratolikar has been elevated to Group Head & Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at HDFC Bank, marking a significant milestone in his distinguished cybersecurity leadership journey.

With more than 27 years of experience in information security, risk management, and governance, Sameer has played a pivotal role in shaping cybersecurity maturity across India’s banking sector. He has been with HDFC Bank for over a decade, serving first as Senior Vice President & CISO and later as Senior Executive Vice President & CISO, where he led enterprise-wide security strategy, cyber resilience programs, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Before joining HDFC Bank, Sameer held critical leadership roles with top financial institutions:

  • CISO, Axis Bank – spearheading security strategy, threat intelligence, and compliance modernization.
  • Global Head – Information Security, CTO & Head–BCP, Bank of India – where he pioneered industry-first initiatives including ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, and Business Continuity certifications, established a 24×7 Security Operations Centre, designed enterprise-wide risk management frameworks, and implemented advanced security controls across the bank.
  • Principal Systems Analyst – Security & Networking, National Informatics Centre (NIC) – contributing to application security and architecture for major e-governance projects for the Government of Gujarat.

Across his career, Sameer has been recognized for establishing robust security architectures, driving organization-wide cyber governance, managing large-scale security operations, and building resilient frameworks for risk, compliance, and business continuity. His elevation to Group Head & CISO underscores HDFC Bank’s commitment to strengthening cyber resilience in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
