NXP Semiconductors India today reinforced its commitment to strengthening India’s semiconductor talent ecosystem and advancing diversity in engineering through the fourth edition of its Women in Tech (WIT) program.
Designed as a year-long specialized learning initiative, the Women in Tech program equips 75 high-potential women engineering students with industry-relevant knowledge and hands-on exposure to semiconductor design. The cohort was selected from a more than 18,000 applicants across India, comprising 3rd Semester engineering students majorly from Computer Science and Electronics & Communication Engineering disciplines. By engaging students early in their academic journey, NXP aims to spark greater interest in semiconductor engineering and contribute to building India’s future semiconductor talent ecosystem.
The program combines structured learning with practical, industry-led experience. Participants receive a year-long training in VLSI design and work on real-world use cases using NXP’s FRDM development platform, enabling them to apply classroom concepts through hands-on learning rather than theoretical instruction alone. Through mentorship from NXP engineers and exposure to industry technologies, the program equips students with technical skills and a deeper understanding of semiconductor innovation and careers.
As part of the program, Batch 4 students participated in an immersive industry experience at NXP’s Bengaluru and Noida campuses. The session brought together students and NXP leaders for keynote addresses, laboratory tours, technical discussions, leadership interactions and fireside chats, providing participants with first-hand exposure to semiconductor technologies, innovation, and career opportunities in the industry.
The Women in Tech program has already demonstrated measurable outcomes, with many alumni from the first two editions successfully joining NXP as full-time employees. As an end-to-end talent development initiative, Women in Tech also supports NXP’s broader diversity and inclusion strategy by expanding opportunities for women in semiconductors and contributing to the company’s global aspiration of increasing women’s representation to 40% of its overall workforce.
“At NXP, we believe innovation thrives when diverse perspectives come together. Through Women in Tech, we are not only introducing young women to the possibilities of semiconductor engineering but also helping build the next generation of talent that will power India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. As India accelerates its ambitions to become a global electronics and semiconductor hub, developing a strong, diverse, and future-ready talent pipeline is critical. Programs such as Women in Tech are an investment in both the careers of these talented students and the long-term success of India’s technology landscape.”
With each edition, the Women in Tech program continues to strengthen the pipeline of future semiconductor talent while reinforcing NXP’s long-term commitment to advancing inclusion and innovation in India’s technology ecosystem.
As India continues to expand its role in the global semiconductor value chain, initiatives such as Women in Tech play an important role in broadening participation, strengthening technical talent, and inspiring the next generation of innovators. Through sustained partnerships between industry, academia, and students, NXP remains committed to contributing to the growth of a vibrant and inclusive semiconductor ecosystem in India.
