Fortinet Positioned as Challenger in 2025 Gartner SSE Report

Placement reflects Fortinet’s presence across key cybersecurity solution areas.

Fortinet has been positioned as a Challenger in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Security Service Edge (SSE). The SSE category includes technologies that secure access to web, cloud services, and private applications.

In addition to the SSE category, Fortinet has been included in 11 Gartner Magic Quadrant reports, covering areas such as Single-Vendor Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) and Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN). The company provides these capabilities through its integrated Security Fabric platform.

SSE Capabilities and Deployment

Fortinet’s SSE solution, FortiSASE, combines multiple functions—secure web gateway (SWG), zero-trust network access (ZTNA), cloud access security broker (CASB), firewall-as-a-service (FWaaS), and remote browser isolation (RBI)—into a single platform managed through a unified console.

FortiSASE is built on FortiOS, and uses a central management console, endpoint agent, and data lake to enable consistent security policy enforcement. It supports various deployment scenarios including BYOD, agent-based and agentless devices, third-party SD-WAN integration, and use in thin edge locations without additional appliances.

The company is also developing its own global cloud infrastructure and offers a Sovereign SASE option for organizations requiring data control in regulated industries such as finance and healthcare.

Customer Feedback and Peer Insights

Fortinet was recognized with the Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for Security Service Edge for two consecutive years. In the 2025 Gartner Peer Insights Voice of the Customer report, users cited features such as secure internet access, endpoint integration, web filtering, and support for hybrid workforce environments.

Customers highlighted functionality for compliance checks, hybrid access support, and consistent performance across user locations.
