New RBI Deputy Governor, T Rabi Sankar, to look after IT

With the appointment of new Deputy Governor, T Rabi Sankar, the Reserve Bank of India has reshuffled the portfolio of responsibilities among all the deputy governors. 
 
The new Deputy Governor will be in charge of the department of Information Technology, among others. He will also be responsible for the highly technology intensive payment and settlement systems. 
 
T Rabi Sankar is the chairman of Indian Financial Technology & Allied Services (IFTAS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Reserve Bank of India, that designs, deploys & provides the essential IT-related services, required by the Reserve Bank of India, banks, and financial institutions.
