Khaitan & Co, a leading full-service Indian law firm, has announced the appointment of Dr. Vimal Choudhary as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). With over 23 years of global experience in consulting, strategy, and operations, Dr. Choudhary most recently served as Head of McKinsey’s Global Centres in India and Global Chief Strategy Officer at McKinsey Global Services. He will be based in the Firm’s Mumbai office.
As COO, Dr. Choudhary will oversee all internal functions at Khaitan & Co, with a firm-wide mandate to drive strategic initiatives, embed digital and AI-led innovation, optimise operational infrastructure, and strengthen the Firm’s knowledge and capability platforms. His responsibilities include leading next-generation technology enablement, enhancing collaboration models, and instituting robust processes to support scale, resilience, and organisational excellence.
A Chartered Accountant and MBA, Dr. Choudhary is a McKinsey veteran, having spent 23 years in key global leadership roles. His tenure included shaping strategy and operations for McKinsey Global Services, overseeing the Firm’s largest office complex outside the U.S., and leading initiatives in client services, acquisition integration, digital capability building, talent development, and enterprise expansion. He also served on the Boards of McKinsey Global Capabilities and Services and ETML Singapore, an analytics company acquired by McKinsey.
