Vijay Narayanan has taken on a new role as Head of Innovation and AI at Kotak Mahindra Bank, further strengthening the bank’s focus on AI-driven transformation and platform-led innovation.
In his previous role at Kotak, Vijay served as Technology Head – Physical / Voice Distribution and Platforms, where he led frontline digitisation initiatives for branch banking and voice distribution, built horizontal platforms for loan origination systems, and spearheaded developer platforms and AI capabilities. He was instrumental in advancing the Kotak AI Platform and deploying AI Pods across marketing, credit, and customer experience functions.
Earlier, as Senior Executive Vice President at Kotak, he drove engineering platforms across branch banking, call centers, relationship manager tools, and customer experience technologies. He also built horizontal CX platforms for back-office automation and knowledge assistants, alongside robust developer platforms covering AI, APIs, CI/CD, IAM, Infrastructure-as-Code, observability, and workflow management.
Before joining Kotak, Vijay spent nearly six years at Goldman Sachs as Managing Director and Technology Fellow. He led global consumer microservices platform engineering, firmwide CI/CD and API management platforms, and developer experience initiatives. His work spanned API governance, microservices, release automation, feature toggling, and regulatory control frameworks.
He also served as Principal Engineer at Amazon, focusing on fast data technologies, stream processing, and highly resilient distributed systems.
With deep expertise across microservices architecture, AI platforms, developer ecosystems, and large-scale financial technology systems, Vijay’s appointment as Head of Innovation and AI signals Kotak Mahindra Bank’s continued investment in building a future-ready, AI-first banking ecosystem.
