AMD Launches EPYC 4005 Series CPUs for Cost-Effective Enterprise Computing

AMD has launched the EPYC 4005 Series processors, offering affordable, high-performance solutions for small businesses and hosted service providers.

AMD has unveiled its new EPYC 4005 Series processors, designed to deliver enterprise-grade performance in an affordable and easy-to-deploy platform. These chips target small and medium businesses and hosted IT service providers who need powerful solutions without the complexity or high cost.

The new processors use AMD’s proven AM5 socket and are suitable for various form factors, including servers, blades, and tower systems. AMD claims its 16-core EPYC 4565P outperforms Intel’s 6th-gen Xeon 6300P by up to 1.83x in Phoronix benchmark testing.

Built for Real-World Workloads

“With the AMD EPYC 4005 Series CPUs, we are delivering the right balance of performance, simplicity, and affordability,” said Derek Dicker, VP at AMD. The chips are tailored for enterprise applications, virtualized environments, and 24/7 cloud services, delivering the efficiency and reliability that businesses demand.

Partner Support and Global Adoption

According to the company, major system builders such as Lenovo, Supermicro, OVHcloud, Vultr, and Gigabyte have extended support for the new lineup.

Lenovo’s Senthil Reddy said the new processors help small businesses “prepare for the AI era.”

OVHcloud CTO Yaniv Fdida praised their “outstanding performance-price ratio,” Supermicro’s Vik Malyala highlighted the platform’s support for modern tech like PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory.

Vultr CEO J.J. Kardwell announced that new cloud compute instances powered by the 4005 Series are now available.

The AMD EPYC 4005 Series is claimed to be a workload-optimized and affordable choice for enterprises. With broad industry support and real-world performance gains, it aims to simplify IT deployments without compromising capability.
