Across our customer portal, we’ve noticed users entering AI-style prompts into
the search bar, so Red Hat moved swiftly to develop a more intuitive way for
customers to set up, use and troubleshoot our solutions. Our aim was to create
an intelligent, purpose-built AI companion – one that understands Red Hat inside
and out, built on our own cutting-edge open source AI technologies.
Today, we’re excited to announce the immediate availability of Ask Red Hat, an
innovative AI assistant on the Red Hat Customer Portal, seamlessly integrated
with the wealth of information in our Knowledgebase, documentation and other
helpful resources our users depend on. This ‘Red Hat on Red Hat’ generative AI
(gen AI) chatbot is engineered to accelerate problem-solving for our users. More
than just a tool, it’s a powerful showcase of Granite, Llama Stack and Red Hat
OpenShift AI in action, accessible to all Red Hat subscribers.
Imagine a Red Hat user with their solution actively running on one monitor. On
their second screen, they are interacting directly with Ask Red Hat. Whether it’s
instantly surfacing relevant knowledge about an error they’re seeing, getting clear
explanations about a newly published security vulnerability that may impact their
deployment or initiating a connection with our expert support teams, this AI-
powered assistant is designed to be their intelligent companion, getting them the
help they need, faster.
Think of Ask Red Hat as an intelligent gateway for Red Hat users. Whether you
need in-depth documentation, the right tools or direct access to our renowned
technical support teams, this AI assistant is designed to swiftly guide you to the
information you need. By intelligently breaking down information silos, the AI
assistant synthesizes insights and resources from across Red Hat, creating a more
unified and efficient support experience. Because we can rely on the training of
our underlying models, this experience is also launching with basic fluency in 12
languages: Arabic, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian,
Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. This is one of the most language-
inclusive feature launches Red Hat has delivered in years—an intentional and
meaningful shift that reflects the needs of our global customers and sellers. It’s a
meaningful step forward in making Red Hat knowledge more accessible, no
matter where or how our customers work.
Red Hat engineers have been rigorously applying our own AI technologies, both
internally and externally, to unlock new levels of efficiency and insight. That is a
testament to the power inherent in our open approach and a foundation for the
transparent AI experience we are delivering through features like public
confidence scores.
While this project marks an exciting initial step, it has already reinforced crucial
lessons: in the realm of AI, openness, authenticity and a bold approach are
paramount. This AI assistant is a tangible demonstration of our commitment and
shows that focused AI models, built with open principles, can deliver significant
impact.
