Orchids The International School had the privilege of hosting Mr. Sabeer Bhatia, the iconic co-founder of Hotmail and one of the pioneers of web-based communication, for a special interaction with students from Grades 6 to 10 on entrepreneurship. The session also marked the launch of Orchids Young Entrepreneurs Program to nurture the next generation of thinkers, doers, and innovators. This program will serve as an inspiring dialogue on the power of ideas, the role of technology in shaping the future, and the value of cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset from a young age.
In a candid and engaging conversation, Sabeer Bhatia shared his journey of building Hotmail, offering insights on turning ideas into reality, navigating early-stage challenges, the importance of critical thinking in entrepreneurship, and staying resilient through change. Students were buzzing with questions on emerging technologies, sustainability in innovation, and how they could embark on their own journeys as changemakers.
Speaking on this initiative, Sabeer Bhatia, Entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Hotmail & ShowReel said “Education today must go beyond textbooks—it must ignite curiosity, nurture critical thinking, and inspire students to become problem-solvers. At Orchids, I witnessed young minds brimming with questions, ideas, and the courage to think differently. This is the kind of environment that shapes tomorrow’s changemakers. These students are growing up in a world driven by rapid technological change, and the foundation they build now—through such forward-thinking education—will define the solutions of tomorrow. We owe it to them to keep pushing the boundaries of how we teach so they can keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.”
“It’s not every day that students get to engage with someone who transformed the world of digital communication,” said Deepali Mehrotra, Principal, Orchids The International School, Yelahanka. “Mr. Bhatia’s journey sparked something powerful in our students. It reaffirmed our belief in offering platforms that go beyond academic learning—to empower future-ready innovators who can think boldly and lead with purpose.”
Naresh Ramamurthy, Chief Academic Officer, Orchids The International School, said, “The entrepreneurship initiative is designed to nurture creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial thinking among students. The Orchids Young Entrepreneurship Program will help students to participate in idea bootcamps, mentorship sessions with Sabeer Bhatia every quarter, and hands-on experiences that bring their creative visions to life—helping them develop skills essential for the 21st century.”
With initiatives like this, Orchids continues to connect students with global visionaries—bridging classroom learning with real-world impact and encouraging every learner to dream big, start small, and act now.
